Junior Software Engineering Major at University of Central Florida

Experience

My name is Anthony Espinosa, I recently graduated with my Associate in Arts degree from Indian River State College (IRSC) this spring of 2016. While I was attending IRSC and earning my degree I took College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Calculus 3, Differential Equations (Calculus 4), Discrete Math, Physics 1 with Calculus 1, Physics 2 with Calculus 2, Computer Programing, and Statistics. Therefore, I not only became proficient on the all courses passing mostly with A’s, but I also maintain a 3.5 GPA; I was also Secretary of the Math Club and a member of the Math Olympic Competition Team at IRSC, in which the Math Olympic Team goes to math tournaments each spring and fall semester. These courses are prerequisites for the Software Engineering major I shall be pursuing at the University of Central Florida in Orlando starting fall semester 2016. While I was taking all these math classes, I tutored my classmates that were struggling during the semester, for I was able to improve some by a letter grade or more, because at first they did not seek help. I also tutored students that were in lower level math courses. I enjoyed tutoring the courses that I completed because I wanted to keep my mind fresh and sharp for the more difficult classes to come, and I believe that it is good and essential in life to help others as well. I also tutor at The Math Lab at IRSC since The Math Lab is a place where students go to get help with their math classes. Math professors at IRSC hire students that have already taken the courses, and students work at The Math Lab helping out students with their math classes. The tutoring approach that I use is for the student to understand the why behind what the problem is trying to convey to the student. I also try to keep it as simple as possible and solve the problem in an efficient matter. Because of my relevant experience and my successful completion of math courses taken at IRSC, I am well qualified to tutor math at the levels that I specified above.
